About our throw
Merino wool throws are products that have been popular for many years. They do not only keep you warm in winter, but also become a beautiful addition to the interior. Softness and elegance, coziness and warmth are the main qualities of our plaid!
History
Merino sheep mainly live in Australia. Now it is from there that the greatest amount of wool and products is exported. The breed was bred in the 13th century by the Spanish, and for the next 5 centuries exporting sheep and products was punishable by death. In the 18th century, several sheep were exported to various countries, including Ireland. Now most wool, products, and blankets are exported from Ireland. In other countries, their numbers are negligible. Merino is a fine-wool sheep breed that is raised specifically for wool. They differ from meat breeds in size. Merino wool is fine, but dense and tough.
The unique characteristics of merino wool
Merino is a breed of sheep whose wool has unique characteristics. The material is highly valuable and is rather expensive, but all this is compensated by its numerous advantages, which are worth to be pointed out in details:
- Merino wool is good air permeable, has breathable properties;
- The material warms well, leaving no chance to freeze even at low indoor temperatures;
- throws are lightweight, at the same time they are very durable;
- Products last for many years, without rolling and deforming;
- wool absorbs moisture, does not conduct static electricity;
- Inside the fibers is lanolin, which serves as an antiseptic, that is, prevents the spread of bacteria and mold, destroys odor;
- The material is relatively fireproof, as it catches fire much slower than products made of other kinds of fabrics and wool;
- Merino wool plaids are very good for health - they relieve joint pain, reduce headaches and backaches, normalize blood pressure, relax, and give peace and quiet.
How to Care
The preferred method of cleaning is dry cleaning.
How to wash a merino rug at home:
- By hand in plenty of water.
- At 38° C.
Rinse well but gently to allow the detergent and water to work through the entire thickness of the fibers.
What is the value of merino wool?
Our throw is prized for its excellent qualities:
- Plaid is very thin. Human hair is several times thicker than its thickness.
- It is soft, but does not look bulky, but elegant.
- Heat retention and hygroscopicity. Merino warms well, absorbs wet evaporation, while remaining dry.
- Odor repellency. Wool does not absorb odors, including sweat.
- Resistance to dirt. Merino wool fibers have curls, which are like springs. Therefore, dirt does not penetrate and is easily removed from the surface.
Moreover, merino wool is antibacterial due to the creatine in its composition and is ecologically friendly. Our store has a wide range of plaids with such valuable properties. With such products you and your family will forget about the cold, allergies and other unpleasant phenomena. And knowing how to wash things from merino wool, you will keep their shape and exquisite appearance for a long time!
